If you were in Rotterdam last weekend, you probably couldn’t have missed the festivities taking place at the river Maas for it was World Port Days in Rotterdam! During the World Port Days both tourists and locals get a glimpse behind the scenes of the largest harbour of Europe and its industrial heritage.
I was truly amazed by the activities at the Kop van Zuid were you were able to visit the brand new JSS Karel Doorman marine ship and enjoy a great helicopter demonstration on the water. The World Port Days take place every year in September, mostly around the river Maas. If you want to watch the spectacular demonstrations on the water, your best view is from the Erasmus Bridge. When visiting the evening program with light show, music and fireworks it’s best to get yourself a good spot at the Willemskade/Veerhaven.
Here’s an impression of my visit to the World Port Days in Rotterdam.
